Elevated OM: A Cannabis + Yoga Experience

Saturday, May 11, 2023, 3:30pm - 6pm at Kala Yoga Brooklyn

Sign up for the workshop HERE on Kala Yoga Brooklyn’s website.

Explore the therapeutic and whole-person expansive experience of combining mindful cannabis consumption with an intentional slow flow, restorative yoga and meditation practice.

For thousands of years, yoga has been a spiritual and wellness practice helping humans hone a deeper connection of mind, body and spirit. In similar longevity, cannabis has been used for medicinal, therapeutic and spiritual purposes to support people in expanding their mind and helping them balance their internal systems. Intentional, thoughtful combining of these two modalities may assist practitioners in opening additional pathways to promote healing and connection of the mind/body complex.

If you are curious about blending these two practices together to support your wellness journey, join Jenny in exploring conscious elevation with herbal medicine and dropping into your physical body with slow, intentional movement before landing in stillness. This workshop includes space for mindful cannabis consumption and time to connect with community and like-minded individuals. A brief presentation about the role of cannabis in wellness and why yoga and cannabis pair well together will be offered. A slow flow yoga practice that concludes with restorative postures and a guided meditation will round out your experience.

There will be allotted time after practice to pause and reflect, integrate, journal, and/or prepare for your transition back to life outside of this experience and the studio. Feel free to bring a journal or anything you wish to have during this integration time.

Please note that this is a BYO cannabis event. You are welcome to bring your favorite, legally-allowed amount of cannabis or cannabis product(s) for personal use to attend this workshop. There is NO cannabis for sale at this event. Jenny will share examples of therapeutic products that pair well with the yoga practice. Consumption is not required to join in on this practice, however, shared respect for the plant, yoga practice and your fellow curious movers is.

Jenny encourages you to reach out with any questions prior to the workshop by sending her a message HERE.

$50 early registration pricing until April 27th. $60 until the day of the workshop. Kala Yoga members receive 15% off!

Root & Rest: Grounding Yoga & Ayurveda for Fall into Winter

Friday, October 28, 2022, 6:30pm - 8:30pm EST

Sign up on Arise Yoga’s website will be available soon. Please check back or sign up for the newsletter to be notified when registration opens.

As we approach the end of the year and as the busyness of back-to-school and the holiday season settles in, we often feel torn between our social desires to stay active and entertained and our natural desires to retreat into a season of rest and nourishment.

In this workshop, we will explore the Ayurvedic qualities of Vata season behind this inner conflict, which situate our human experience in the larger cycle of the Earth as it moves into a period of darkness—the groundwork from which our season of fertility and abundance, spring, will come.

Through discussion and an extended yoga asana practice, incorporating gentle flow and restorative postures, you’ll come away with practical tools and an embodied memory of what it feels to flow with the energy of nature this time of year. We’ll also share Ayurvedic treats and recipes to take home and enjoy throughout the fall and winter. There will be time for reflection and journaling so we encourage those participating to bring a journal or sketchbook should they wish to engage in this activity or jot down helpful notes for themselves.

Join Jenny and her teaching colleague and author, Jennifer Kurdyla, for this Ayurvedic exploration to prepare for the coming winter season.

Early registration pricing of 10% off will be available for this workshop once registration becomes available. Cost of the workshop is $50 until the day of the workshop. Arise Yoga members receive 15% off!

Slowing Down for Self-Care

Friday, November 1, 2019, 6:00pm - 8:00pm EST

Sign up on House of Jai’s website or contact Jenny to join.

We live in a fast-paced, stimulating and ever-changing world that can feel like it moves at 100,000 miles per hour, especially here in the great metropolis of New York City. In order to function optimally and show up daily within our lives ready, willing and able to be and do all that we wish, we must tend and care for the most important person we can, ourselves.

What does self-care really mean to you? As this buzzword in the wellness industry gets overused and overshared, the meaning of how to compassionately care for oneself can get a little lost. Let’s reclaim what truly supports whole-person well-being and take a moment to slow down in order to really care for ourselves.

In this workshop, we will touch upon the societal and academic definitions of self-care and aim to define what the term self-care really means to each of us individually. Through self-inquiry and journaling, we will reconnect with what supports our ability to down-regulate and rest. In the hustle culture of 21st century, modern life and within the city that never sleeps, this can feel like a challenging, daunting ask. We will move gently and participate in down-regulating pranayama to guide us deep into a prop-heavy, supported restorative yoga practice. There will be time for journaling after practice and integration before moving back into your day, hopefully with a more grounded sense of peace, centeredness and how to better take care of you.
